Kerala Bazar ("we", "our", "the app") is a hyperlocal grocery ordering platform that connects customers with small local shops in Kerala. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. By using the Kerala Bazar app, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to let you order from local shops:

• Account information: your name, mobile phone number, email address (for shop owners and delivery staff), and a password you create, used to register and sign in to your account.
• Location information: with your permission, your device's approximate or precise location is used to show shops near you and to help shops deliver your order. You can use the app without granting location access by searching for a shop by town instead.
• Order information: the products you order, order amounts, delivery details you enter, and your order history.
• Wallet and referral information: your referral code, the code you signed up with (if any), and a ledger of wallet credits and deductions. This is used to operate the referral rewards and to apply wallet balance to your orders.
• Device information: basic technical data such as a notification token, used to send you order status updates.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account.
• To show you nearby shops and their products.
• To place, process, and deliver your orders.
• To send you notifications about the status of your orders.
• To operate the wallet and referral rewards.
• To provide customer support and improve the app.

3. Information Sharing

When you place an order, the relevant order details (such as your name, phone number, delivery address, and items ordered) are shared with the specific shop you ordered from, so that the shop can prepare and deliver your order. Delivery staff assigned to your order can see the delivery address and phone number needed to complete the delivery. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your information is stored on secure servers. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data. Passwords are stored in a hashed (non-readable) form. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, the following is removed permanently:

• Your name, mobile number, and email address
• Your saved delivery addresses and location data
• Your order history, including the delivery details on past orders
• Your cart contents
• Notification tokens stored for your devices
• Your login sessions

Two categories of records are retained after deletion, with your identity removed so that they can no longer be traced back to you:

• Wallet ledger entries. Each credit and deduction is kept as an accounting record, with the user reference replaced by a random identifier. This is required to keep the referral rewards ledger balanced.
• Shop sales records. The shop you ordered from retains the sale amount, date, and items for its own accounts, with all personal details stripped.

Any balance remaining in your wallet is forfeited when the account is deleted and cannot be restored.

6. Your Rights

You can request to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Full instructions for deleting your account, and details of what is removed and what is retained, are available at keralabazar.in/delete-account.html. Requests are completed within 7 working days.

7. Children's Privacy

Kerala Bazar is not intended for use by children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
